Good design begins by understanding two things: 1. how the homeowner lives. 2. how the home will work with the land.

Only then can the principles, the experience, the philosophy, and the techniques of design begin to develop the concepts that will be fleshed out into final working drawings.

Our design philosophy starts with an ancient concept called Fuzei, taught by Zen Monks which we loosely translate into our process as “take time on the site, listen carefully and wait for it".

While spending time on location with the client, learning about what is important to them, we are also listening to what the land and elements of nature are telling us.

We can then create an overall philosophy and sketch out a rough bubble diagram - a rough outline of how the home can best enhance your family's flow patterns within the spatial dynamics.

The design then evolves through communication, encapsulation of key elements of the clients preferences and needs, concentrated through our experience over the years, and visualized in the latest 3D technologies.

Along the design journey we have an array of tools available - drone topology mapping, advanced rendering tools, and architectural software that allows development all the way from initial concept to working drawings - whatever makes the process of design work best for the client to see their future home.

Materials & Sourcing are a crucial consideration during every stage of the design phase.

Throughout the design phase, decisions are being made regarding construction materials, and details. Cabinetry construction, integration, materials and finishing techniques - all arranged through communication with client and suppliers, and reflected in rendered visuals.

We bring to bear our extensive knowledge of not only national, but international techniques and materials, available through our network of exclusive suppliers we've build relationships with over years of industry work.
